The ”gite” Bastide is located on the southern slope of a picturesque, medieval village, St. Martial, in an absolutely quiet area. It was rebuilt and restored carefully in 2006 respecting the centuries old local cevenole architecture. The house (95m²) offers comfortable accommodation for 4-6 persons.
St. Martial (450m) is situated on the southern region of the Cevennes, perched on top of a hill. The 12th Century Roman church is surrounded by a row of old, picturesque houses. The village is idyllic, in the middle of evergreen oak and chestnut woods, flanked by cultivated terraces. It is a perfect starting-point for hiking trails into the wilderness. Spring and Autumn are good seasons for bushwalkers, when nature is at its best, and you can collect boletus, chanterelles and edible chestnuts. The gite is exceptionally situated close to many interesting sites; the Mont Aigoual (1567m altitude) and the Mediterranean coast are just one hour drive.
